Are outdoor stairlifts weatherproof enough for Scotland?
Yes. Outdoor stairlifts are specifically engineered to handle all weather conditions, including the wet winters and variable temperatures common in Scotland. The motor and electrical components are fully sealed against moisture, and the rail has an anti-corrosion coating. The seat and controls are covered by a weatherproof cover when not in use. They are designed to operate reliably in rain, frost and low temperatures.
How much does an outdoor stairlift cost?
Outdoor stairlifts typically start from around £2,500 and can cost up to £5,000 or more, depending on the length of the external steps, the materials involved and the weatherproofing specification. Because outdoor installations vary considerably, an accurate price requires a free survey of your external staircase.
Can a stairlift be fitted to garden steps or a path?
Yes, provided the surface is structurally sound. Outdoor stairlifts can be fitted to concrete, stone and brick steps, as well as wooden decking with appropriate fixings. Our surveyor will assess the condition of your external staircase before recommending a solution. Anti-slip footplates are fitted as standard for additional safety.
