Standard Features

What You Get as Standard

Every straight stairlift we supply comes with these features, whether new or reconditioned.

Swivel Seat

Swivels at the top of the stairs for safe entry and exit, away from the staircase edge.

Folds Flat

Seat, footrest and armrests fold neatly when not in use, leaving stairs clear for others.

Battery Powered

Runs on rechargeable batteries, so it works even during a power cut. Charges at the rail ends.

Simple Controls

Just two buttons or a joystick. No complicated settings. Easy to use from the very first ride.

Up to 160kg Capacity

Most models support up to 160kg (25 stone), with heavy-duty options available if needed.

Remote Controls

Two remote controls included as standard, so you can call the stairlift from upstairs or down.

Most Popular Choice

The Stairlift Most Homes Choose

A straight stairlift is designed for staircases that go straight from one floor to another without any bends, curves or intermediate landings. They are the most common type of stairlift and the quickest to install.

We supply straight stairlifts from all leading manufacturers, including Stannah, Acorn, Brooks and Minivator. Whether you choose new or reconditioned, every stairlift is installed by our experienced engineers and comes with a full warranty.

Next-Day Installation

Because straight stairlifts use a standard rail, we can often install them the very next day. No waiting weeks for a custom rail to be manufactured.

Straight Stairlift Questions

How much does a straight stairlift cost in Scotland?

Reconditioned straight stairlifts start from around £995 including installation and a 12-month warranty. New straight stairlifts typically start from £1,800, with most installations falling between £1,800 and £3,000 depending on the length of your staircase and features chosen. VAT is zero-rated if you qualify as chronically sick or disabled, which represents a significant saving.

How long does it take to install a straight stairlift?

Most straight stairlifts are installed in 2 to 4 hours. Because the rail is a standard size cut to fit your staircase, there is no lead time for manufacturing. In many cases we can arrange installation within a few days of your survey. You will receive a full demonstration before our engineer leaves.

Will a straight stairlift fit on narrow stairs?

Most staircases in Scotland can accommodate a stairlift. The minimum staircase width we can work with is typically around 28 inches (71 cm). Modern stairlift rails are slim and fold flat when not in use, leaving the staircase usable for other members of the household. A free home survey is the best way to confirm whether your staircase is suitable.

What weight limit do straight stairlifts have?

Standard straight stairlifts have a weight capacity of around 19 to 21 stone (120 to 133 kg). Heavy-duty models are available for users up to 30 stone (190 kg). Our surveyor will confirm the right model for you during the free home visit at no additional charge.
